with the hydraulics. I think I've seen some stuff about bench testing calipers with an air line and a piece of wood to keep the pistons from blowing out. Not sure what psi to use though. If it's not the calipers themselves, then I would flush the heck out of those rear brake lines before you reattach the calipers. If there is gunk in there fudging something up you want to try and dislodge it and get it out. I'd happily waste a gallon of brake fluid to make sure those lines are clear.
